Game 4 vs Undead

Harvey with his cool board
As Khorne's Killers arrived at the home stadium of the Grenzstadt Gravediggers, worrying nicknamed "The Slaughterhouse", they could not fail to notice the adjacent array of butchers shops and meat pie stalls. The inside of the stadium was no more welcoming.  Rather than the reassuring grass/mud/blood combination the Killers were used to, the pitch was made of cold hard marble surface that had obviously been washed clean earlier that day.  Sterilised, so to speak.  The walls of the stadium were decorated with what seemed to be weapons which pleased the beastmen but, however, upon closer inspection, the weapons were actually blades, saws and choppers; obviously tools for carving meat...

Nervous at their ominous surroundings, the game started and the teams readied themselves for a brutal game.  The Killers minotaur spotted an opportunity to blitz a zombie and swiftly charged towards him, causing the cadaver to be pushed into the sidelines.  Thinking himself safe, the mino stayed at the side of the pitch only for his confidence to be shattered when the Gravediggers blitzed him off the pitch in return.  The waiting crowd immediately set to work on the minotaur, grabbing their butchery tools and starting to carve him into steak!  Thankfully, the Killers apothecary bludgeoned them aside and rescued the beast, thrusting him into the relative safety of the dugouts.

With the minotaur off the field, the Gravediggers soon overpowered the lumbering beastmen and a ghoul took the opportunity to show some razzle-dazzle by returning the ball from deep in their endzone to the opposite end of the pitch within seconds.  1-0 to the Undead.
The minotaur came back into the game at the restart, determined not to be so foolish again.  With him holding up the centre of the pitch, the beastmen managed to work the way down the right side of the field before throwing the Undead into confusion with a swift change to the other side.  The Gravediggers chased after them but the Killers stayed just ahead and equalised before half time.

For the second half, the Killers could only field ten players due to a knocked-out journeygoat whilst the Gravediggers still had a full team.  This would not please Khorne at all!    The only death and destruction being dished out was to themselves!  The team coach warned the Chaos players that unless they started improving, he would turn the whole team into a meat-feast combo... Hearing the sound of cleavers being sharpened, the Killers swiftly improved their game.  The minotaur crowd-surfed another zombie but ensured he moved away from the sideline this time.  One of the beastmen managed to injure a ghoul whilst another ghoul was pushed into the crowd.  With less players on the pitch the Undead were struggling to contain the Killers as they slowly pushed down the field.  An unexpected blitz from a prone mummy caused some concerns as it left the ball carrying beastman positioned to be crowd-surfed in the Gravediggers next turn - so he was forced to trust to Khorne and dodge out of a couple of tackle-zones and dash for the end-zone - it worked!  2-1 to the Killers.

With only a couple of turns remaining, the Gravediggers were hoping to equalise but their luck deserted them when a wight tripped over when dodging away from the minotaur.  A win for Khorne's Killers but it was a close escape...

Final score 2 - 1 win.

Game 3 vs Lizardmen

Khorne's Killers travelled to the Jungle Bowl for tonight's game against the Minnehotxl V'Skinks where the team of slippery skinks and solid saurus' had decided against hiring an apothecary in order to allow them to induce Helmut Wulf.  The chainsaw-wielding looney sat out this first half while the V'Skinks and Killers traded blows, seeing one of the Killers journeygoats slaughtered by a lumbering saurus.  It was only in the second half of the game that Helmut got the signal to set up on the line of scrimmage.  While the whistle to signal the kickoff was still lingering in the air, the roar of a chainsaw and the swift, sharp bray of a decapitated beastman rang out in a tribute to the Lord of Murder.

Incenced that someone other than himself had caused such an impressive death, the Killers' minotaur launched himself at the star player and took him out of the game, albeit only knocked out.  As best he could, a lone skink broke towards the endzone, desperately hoping to be out of range of the lurking beastmen nearby.  Unfortuately he hadn't quite run far enough and he was blitzed out of the game, the ball scattering into the waiting arms of his attacker.  What followed was a slow and brutal drubbing of the remaining lizards while the beastmen casually walked up the field towards the endzone.  The game ended 1-0 to the Killers and the V'Skinks only having two players on the field.

Khorne himself was pleased with the evening's offerings but the Killer's coach was left hoping they would come from their opponents next time...

Final score 1 - 0 win.
